Helping Communities and Families Across North Texas

Giving back is at the heart of everything CAAPCO does. Since 1997, the Coalition of African-American Professional and Community Organizations has brought together more than 30 professional and community organizations, representing over 7,000 members, around one simple idea: the success of community activities and programs is heightened when all CAAPCO groups and supporters join hands to advance a common cause. That cause is giving back to the community.

Stronger Together in Service

Each of our member organizations does meaningful work in its own field. Together, they form the largest coalition of its kind in Texas, with the reach, resources, and people power to make a greater impact on the North Texas community. When nurses, attorneys, engineers, and firefighters show up for the same cause, the result is more volunteers, more expertise, and more families served.

CAAPCO acts as a bridge between these groups. Rather than working in isolation, our member organizations support and participate in each other’s service activities, turning individual efforts into coordinated, community-wide action.

Partnerships That Make a Difference

Over the years, CAAPCO has partnered with respected organizations to address real needs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including:

  • The Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Dallas metropolitan area
  • The Freedman Foundation
  • The National Marrow Donor Program
  • Dallas Independent School District
  • The Dallas Symphony Association
  • State Farm Insurance
  • American Airlines
  • Area Chambers of Commerce

These partnerships allow CAAPCO to support health awareness, youth mentorship, education, the arts, and economic opportunity. They also give our members fun and new ways to use their talents to help the people and neighborhoods they love.

Service Rooted in Our Community

CAAPCO has a long history of community service and economic empowerment in the Dallas metropolitan area, particularly within minority communities. Our Community Outreach Committee plans educational and charitable programs and continually develops new ways for CAAPCO to enrich our community. Our Young Professionals Division offers volunteer and philanthropic opportunities for the next generation of leaders who want to serve while they grow.

Service also connects to our broader mission. CAAPCO assists with programs meant for the economic and employment opportunities available to the communities we serve, because strong families and neighborhoods depend on access to opportunity.

Professionals Who Give Back

Our members come from medicine, law, dentistry, accounting, engineering, aviation, finance and banking, media, entertainment, sports, law enforcement, education, technology, human resources, social work, and many other fields. That range of experience is one of the coalition’s greatest strengths.
